I traveled from out of state to visit this shop and I am beyond happy with what I was able to see! I do wish there was more of a selection for framed insects though, there were maybe a third of what I typically would see them post. I was able to grab a few goodies and was super happy to see how everything was priced according to what it was, making them super affordable if you’re into collecting! I would love to visit this shop again next time I’m in the area. Staff was super helpful and friendly, so happy I got to stop in!

I fell in love with this place immediately!! The curiosity of it all. I want all the skulls!! The staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to pack my itty bitty vole skull for travel. I can't wait to give them more business!!

No stop in Richmond is complete without stopping at Rest In Pieces. Whether it’s to buy a unique piece for the house, insect jewelry, bones or to just wander the store, you will not be disappointed. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We’ve purchased from them multiple times and will be back again. What always amazes me is their pricing. With every thing else going up, they keep everything here in a great range. My top tip, if you see something you like, get it. I can promise you that it may not be there when you return. Oh, it’s a city street. Be careful parking and be polite to the neighbors.

This place is insane and so cool, can’t believe it’s just out there as a store that anyone can look inside. Tons of taxidermy animals on display (not all are for sale) and even human fetuses (not for sale) which I stared at for so long. An awesome Richmond business. Employees are nice!

9/22/24 - Very Unique place with lots to see. I loved the butterfly/Insect sections. I got a red butterfly and it was so nice that they have information on the bug behind the framing. Would love to come back to see what new items they have. Staff was very friendly as well.

I’ve come here with my boyfriend now 2 times from DC. beautiful GORGEOUS store. The staff was extremely informed about the pieces for sale and on display.

Very cool shop especially for someone like me who like the stranger things in life, they have taxidermy and Victorian items. It was a very cool shop, bought a beautiful resin cast bat and some pendulums that called to us. The items are humanely sourced and I will def visit again

Amazing shop with a variety of oddities & other cool collectables, taxidermied animals and trinkets that you can buy. Also, things that are not for purchase due to legality are still available to be seen there.

In 2023, I lost my first pet as an adult. I reached out to Rest in Pieces to inquire about custom preservations. I vaguely remembered having seen a post in the past of someone who had gotten their cat tail mummified, and it was set up in a gorgeous cloche. Justin was incredibly patient with me as it took me some time to decide what i wanted, and i was grieving my fur child incredibly hard. Having known the owners for many years, I felt so incredibly comfortable leaving my loved one in their care to deal with what I deemed “the After”. I had decided to have her skull cleaned (as she had passed naturally and was not euthanized) and we talked about what other memorial aspects I wanted. I paid the third of the total price as a deposit (this has likely changed, I know after RIP shared my custom, they had a LOT of folks inquiring and i love that for them.) A few months later, I got to pick Reina up. I realized that while RIP seems to specialize in death or macabre, Custom work also puts them face to face with grieving customers. My Rey was handled with so much love and care, I was in awe at the lengths they had gone to to create a special keepsake for me. I know this review is long overdue, but I very much wanted to say thank you. I still can’t talk about Reina without crying, but i am grateful to have had such a beautiful way to remember her by. (also totally used the pictures yall posted because the box has been packed away for a few months and i miss her)

This place was awesome! We spent a good amount of time here just looking at all the weird stuff they have. Staff was great as well, so helpful. They also play the best music, was jamming the whole time there to The Smiths. We got a few items and talked to the staff about signing up for pinning classes. If you're into odd things, this is a must stop, even if you're not, go get crepes out. Love it! Will be going back.
